Power Outage Causes Cancellation of Classes for Some Schools

PLEASANTVILLE, Iowa — Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas schools were closed Monday because of a regional power outage.

MidAmerican Energy says an animal made contact with the substation in Pleasantville and caused the electricity to go out earlier Monday morning.

More than 3,000 customers in Marion and Warren countries were without power at one point. Nearly all power has now been restored.
