ELON, North Carolina — Two college students from North Carolina rallied their campus to raise money to fulfill the dream of a campus coffee shop employee.

Taylor Zisholtz and Lucy Smith-Williams are students at Elon University. They met Kathryn Thompson while she worked at Acorn Coffee. While talking with Thompson they learned her dream was to take her family to Disney World.

The girls immediately began working on how to make that dream come true. They set up a GoFundMe page to raise the estimated $6,000 it would take for Thompson to bring her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons to Disney World. And they did it all while keeping the secret from Thompson.

Fundraising exceeded expectations and as of October 12th Zisholtz and Smith-Williams had raised $9,501. They broke the happy news to Thompson while she was working and she shed some tears as she told them she was excited for her autistic grandson to meet Mickey Mouse.
