DAVENPORT, Iowa — New details are being released about why a man opened fire inside an office building in Davenport. Police now saying it was a domestic situation.
Police say around 2:00 p.m. Monday, 40-year-old Robert Mayes II opened fire inside a Davenport office complex. No one was hurt in the incident and police say a Marine recruiting office within the complex was not a target of the shooting.
Police tracked Mayes down at a business in Bettendorf, where he shot and killed himself.
Police say this all was related to a domestic issue with his estranged wife. They say he was looking for her at the office building.
