IOWA CITY, Iowa – Desmond King isn’t done receiving appreciation for his 2015 season after winning Defensive Back of the Year in the Big Ten on Monday.

On Wednesday, King was announced as a finalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation.

The defensive back is the only defensive player among the five finalists. He joins Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey, Alabama running back Derrick Henry, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson on the list.

On top of the recognition from the Water Camp Foundation, King is one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given to the nation’s top defensive back.

King has eight interceptions on the season, which ties the school record. He's posted 39 solo tackles and 22 assists, with one tackle for loss. He also leads the Hawkeyes with 11 pass break-ups. Iowa ranks fourth in the nation in turnover margin, sixth in rushing defense, and eighth in interceptions.
