SOLON, Iowa — Crews recovered the body of a teenager from the Coralville Reservoir on Monday.

KWWL reports that a recovery effort for 17-year-old Tanner Wymer, of Solon, began Sunday afternoon after reports came in that two people fell into the water when their canoe capsized.

Michael Felton, 51, was in the back seat of the canoe when it capsized. He was able to swim to shore, where bystanders pulled him from the water. KWWL says Wymer was sitting in the middle of the canoe and he did not resurface after the canoe capsized.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said Wymer’s body was recovered Monday afternoon. Crews suspended their search until Monday after the water started to freeze Sunday evening.

Wymer attended Solon High School. The school said counselors will be available for students.
