DES MOINES, Iowa — The trial date for a man charged in a deadly Des Moines crash has been set.
Police say Troy Mure Jr. was speeding when he crashed into a tree last month, killing passenger Scalicity Perez. He is now charged with vehicular homicide by reckless driving.
Police also thought he may have been intoxicated at the time, but those charges were dropped last month.
Mure claims he was speeding to get away from another car, whose occupants were chasing and shooting at him. He’s entered a not guilty plea.
Mure’s trial has been set for February 28th in Polk County court.
