DES MOINES, Iowa -- Periods of freezing drizzle may cause some slick spots Wednesday evening.

Temperatures will stay warm enough that serious icing is not expected, but watch out for slushy, wet conditions. A mixture of light snow, sleet and rain can be expected Wednesday evening, but the system will move out by the end of the night.

Heavy rain and light snow accumulations are expected this weekend.

Some areas in the metro could see up to an inch or inch and a half of rainfall Friday. That system is expected to turn into snow Saturday.

Temperatures will take a nose dive Sunday, with highs in the teens and lows in the single-digits. Winds will be blustery on Saturday and Sunday.
