AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State women have won nine out of their last 10 games, but now they'll have a big hole to fill in the middle.

Sophomore Bryanna Fernstrom was granted her release and transferred from Iowa State to Minnesota.

The 6-foot-5-inch center played in all 15 games this season for the Cyclones, starting in 12. She averaged nine points and seven rebounds per game.

ISU head coach Bill Fennelly made the announcement Monday and said it was a surprise.
