DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Class 3A state wrestling dual final was what many expected right up until the final whistle.

Valley gave Southeast Polk its first conference dual loss in six years, and the Tigers did it on the big stage.

“They won it last year and they were pretty cocky going into it I think,” Valley's Joel Shapiro said. ”We did a good job of staying confident and just pushing through the whole dual and getting the victory."

“I’m so proud of our kids and the effort they gave, up and down the line," Valley coach Travis Young said.
