AMES, Iowa -- Monte Morris told reporters Friday that he will test the NBA waters.

The announcement doesn't mean Morris is leaving Iowa State, but simply exploring the opportunity to get evaluated by NBA scouts. The rule allows for underclassmen to take advantage of being looked at without consequence.

As long as he doesn't hire an agent, Morris can return to school.

Morris is coming off his best season in a Cyclone uniform as he averaged 14 points, seven assists, and four rebounds per game.

If Morris does leave, most projections have him as a second-round pick in the NBA draft or an undrafted free agent.
