Grand Ave Bridge

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines officials say that one of the city’s major arteries will be cut off at the Des Moines River.

The century-old Grand Avenue Bridge will be torn down and replaced starting in August. The new bridge won’t open until late next year or early 2018.

The Grand Avenue Bridge is one of four arched bridges over the Des Moines River, connecting downtown Des Moines to the East Village.
