One Person Killed After Being Struck By Car in Rural Mahaska County

BARNES CITY, Iowa – One person is dead after being struck by a car in Mahaska County.

On Thursday morning, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1200 block of Yale Avenue in Barnes City after receiving a report of a person being struck by a vehicle. The victim, who authorities have not identified, died from their injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday.

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating the case.
