CLIVE, Iowa -- There’s a metro town that’s having more problems that it probably should when it comes to roadside trash.

Clive Mayor Scott Cirksena talked about his battle with roadside trash, specifically along Hickman Road on both sides of Interstate 80/35.

There's a lot of it, and he wants it cleaned up. But while it falls in Clive city limits, it’s not Clive’s property.

It's the state right away because of the interstate. The Iowa Department of Transportation told Channel 13’s Dave Price that two volunteer groups adopted the area to clean up twice a year, and apparently the groups haven’t done their trash duty yet this year.

A DOT spokesperson also said the state uses inmates from the Newton Correctional Center, but apparently they also haven’t made it out there yet. trash

If it’s safe to do so, pull over and take a picture and send it to him on Facebook. We'll see if we can figure out who's supposed to be cleaning it up.
