DES MOINES, Iowa — A teenager was arrested at a Des Moines high school Wednesday for having a gun at school.
Detectives were following up with 18-year-old Malik Mandujano regarding an ongoing investigation when they pulled him out of class at Scavo High School to speak with him.
Officers discovered a pistol on the student during a pat down.
Police say that he never displayed the gun or made any threats, but having a gun on school property is a Class D felony.
Mandujano is charged with carrying weapons on school grounds.
