WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Sears Holdings, located at 7100 Westown Parkway, will be closing its call center June 14.

This week, the company, along with the Greater Des Moines Partnership, is hosting an on-site job fair to help the more than 100 employees still looking for a new job.

"It creates an opportunity where those connections could be more easily made between our employers here looking for great talent and the wonderful talent within the Sears Service Center," says Executive VP of Workforce Development and Education Mary Bontrager.

21 employers from around the Des Moines area set up a pop-up job fair at Sears Holdings and met one-on-one with potential employees.

“I was actually surprised, they were going to help us look for something else and have opportunities for us, new jobs," says current employee Lyric Lewis.

The company also helped its employees with their resumes and provided time for each person to go to the fair.

"It’s been really good and helpful," Lewis said.

Sears Holdings had 160 employees when it announced it was closing in May.

Company officials report about one-third have already found a new job.
