Legendary Broadcaster Bob Brooks Dies at the Age of 89

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Bob Brooks, who broadcast University of Iowa athletic events for over 57 years, passed away Saturday. He was 89.

He is a member of the Kinnick Stadium media “Wall of Fame” and was recognized by the UI as an honorary letterman.

Brooks was a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He earned his journalism degree from Iowa in 1948 and immediately began his broadcasting career in his hometown.

Details regarding a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
