LAKE RED ROCK, Iowa - Two people are dead following separate drowning incidents Sunday at Lake Red Rock.

KNIA-KRLS Radio reports that shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, bystanders located an unresponsive six-year-old boy in the water about 25-yards from the shore. They performed CPR until medical personnel arrived and took the boy to Pella Regional Hospital. The boy, identified as Alexi Oquendo, of Newton, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses said the boy was wearing a life jacket but removed it before going in the water.

About 90 minutes later, emergency crews responded to a report of a capsized kayak on the lake. Shortly after 8 p.m., Iowa Department of Natural Resources crews located the body Daniel Tutor, 50, of Des Moines. Authorities said a floatation device was present but Tutor was not wearing it when his body was recovered.
