Flash Flooding Reported in Des Moines-Metro As Rain Continues to Fall

DES MOINES, Iowa - Heavy rain Tuesday morning continued into the early afternoon and is causing flash flooding in parts of Central Iowa.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Madison, Polk, Warren and Dallas Counties until 6:30 p.m.  Officials said that 2-3 inches of rain have already fallen today. More heavy rain is expected.

Flash flooding has already been reported in flood-prone areas of Des Moines. Standing water has been reported on Dean Avenue near the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Flooding has also been reported around the Iowa Cubs Stadium downtown.

More than 2,000 MidAmerican Energy customers are without power as of 1:15 p.m., the majority of outages are in the Easter Lake-area.

Today's weather has forced officials to postpone today's state softball tournament games until tomorrow.
