Two Iowans Die in Lake of the Ozarks Drowning

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Missouri -- A location many utilize for water recreation became the site of a tragedy Monday as the Missouri State Patrol says two Iowans died at the Lake of the Ozarks as a result of drowning.

According to authorities, the incident began around 8 a.m. near the Big Niangua arm of the lake.

46-year-old Dennis Michel of Ankeny swam out from a dock to recover a boat that was drifting away. In the process, he suffered a medical condition.

After seeing him struggling in the water, 40-year-old Jacob Seeman of Woodward jumped in an attempt to help him.

Authorities say that's when both men went under the water and did not surface. They were both found dead at approximately 10:45 a.m.
