PINAL COUNTY, Arizona — A couple in the Phoenix area is accused of abandoning their two-year-old boy outside their home while they went out and played Pokemon Go.
Authorities say the child was alone for up to an hour and a half while the parents played the augmented reality game in nearby neighborhoods and parks.
Twenty-five-year-old Brianna Daley and 27-year-old Brent Daley are charged with child endangerment and child neglect.
Authorities say a neighbor reported finding the child outside the home Thursday night. According to authorities, the child was barefoot, “red faced, sweaty and dirty” — out in hot temperatures with no water.
They found a phone number in the home and called the father and told him he abandoned the boy. They say he responded “whatever” and hung up.
The parents returned home an hour later and were taken into custody.
Authorities say they admitted they left the child to play Pokemon Go.
The boy is now in the custody of the State Department of Child Services.
