The first major preseason NCAA football poll is out and it features the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Top 25.

The USA Today Amway Coaches Poll has the Hawkeyes ranked No. 15 to open the season.

Iowa is coming off one of their best seasons in team history. They finished the regular season 12-0 before losing in the Big Ten Championship game to Michigan State. The Hawkeyes then finished their season with a disappointing loss to Stanford in the Rose Bowl, 45-16.

Expectations are high for the Hawkeyes this season with most of their starters from the 2015 squad returning. The Hawkeyes finished last season ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 10 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll.

The Hawkeyes begin their 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 when they host Miami (OH).

The following week the Hawkeyes welcome in-state rival Iowa State to Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10.
