DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa's LGBT community celebrated some of it's oldest members on Saturday.
One Iowa hosted the "Gay and Gray" summit at Grand View University, which highlighted the challenges and opportunities LGBT people face as they age.
Organizers say the younger generation has the older generation to thank for the progress the LGBT community has made.
"They are the ones who ignited the movement for equality," said Donna Red Wing, Executive Director of One Iowa. "They are the stonewall generation. These are the people whose shoulders we all stand. So they are at the very core of the movement."
This is the second year for the summit.
