Details of Iowa’s New Cybersecurity Plan Released

DES MOINES, Iowa – State leaders announced Iowa’s first-ever cybersecurity strategy during a press conference Monday morning.

Governor Branstad announced the plan following an executive order signed in December 2015. The order called for executive branch agencies to work together to develop a plan to respond to cybersecurity events.

The Governor’s Office said the strategy primarily focuses on lifeline critical infrastructure sectors, such as energy, transportation, and communication, and state government as it relates to the protection of digital government services and citizens.

Officials from the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Department of Public Safety, Department of Homeland Security, the Iowa Communications Network and the Iowa National Guard worked to develop the plan.
