Police Searching for Suspect in Ames Shooting

AMES, Iowa — Ames police are seeking a man wanted for attempted murder in a shooting that happened Tuesday.

Police say they’re looking for Kevin “Splash” Williams, 23, of Ames. He is facing charges of attempted murder, first degree robbery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Williams is accused of shooting Leonard Boyd III, 29, of Boone Tuesday. Police were called to the 3800 block of Tiverton Court just before 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived they found Boyd in the road, suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Boyd was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and he is listed in stable condition.

Police continue searching for Williams. He is considered armed and dangerous.
