DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man has been arrested following an investigation into a Sunday homicide.
Des Moines Police Department detectives have arrested and charged 25-year-old Alex Cosmo Marcelino with first-degree murder.
At this time, the victim remains unidentified, pending forensic fingerprint examination.
Police were called to the 600 block of East Euclid on a report of a deceased male on Sunday. Inside the home, they found a male, dead from a gunshot wound.
Police originally classified it as a suspicious death but within several hours announced it was investigating the case as a homicide.
They say through interviews, detectives were able to learn more about what happened.
“Once we were able to get those folks down here and do some interviews and get some information out of them through talking to them, we were able to determine it was a homicide, someone did shoot him, and we were able to get that suspect identified,” said Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek.
