Des Moines Man Charged After Fatal High-Speed Crash

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man was charged on Wednesday following his involvement in a fatal high-speed crash that occurred on Sunday.

On Aug. 14, Des Moines Police were chasing 34-year-old Darnell Browder in a vehicle just north of Douglas Avenue when Browder crossed into the southbound lane and struck another vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, 41-year-old Jason Hunt of Des Moines, was killed in the crash. Hunt’s passenger, 40-year-old Angela Denning of Des Moines, was injured and transported to the hospital.

Des Moines Police have now arrested Browder upon his release from the hospital. He’s been charged with homicide by motor vehicle — OWI, homicide by motor vehicle — reckless driving, serious injury by motor vehicle, felony eluding, felon possession of a firearm and driving while suspended.
