DES MOINES, Iowa — Construction crews for the Bakken oil pipeline will be staying home Thursday.

The pipeline is intended to move crude oil through Iowa to Illinois.

Recent protests have halted work in the Dakotas and now work has been halted in Iowa because of a lawsuit against the Iowa Utilities Board.

The lawsuit was filed by 15 landowners who say the board didn’t have the right to grant the pipeline’s developer, which is a private company, permission to seize their land.

A meeting to discuss the lawsuit is scheduled for Thursday morning in Des Moines.
