DES MOINES, Iowa — Police have released the name of a man arrested following an officer-involved shooting and chase Sunday.
Darrius Bolden, 28, now faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm, eluding, and interference with official acts.
It all started just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday when police got a call about a man with a gun along Southeast 6th Street. Police say when they found the man, Bolden, he was in a car and refused to cooperate.
Des Moines police say Senior Police Officer Benjamin McCarthy started shooting at Bolden because it appeared another officer was in danger of being struck by the vehicle Bolden was attempting to get away from police in.
Police put down stop sticks to try to end the chase.
Eventually officers rammed Bolden’s car, which finally brought the chase to an end.
Bolden was taken into custody and is being held in the Polk County Jail.
An administrative review of the officer-involved shooting is underway.
