Ames House Damaged in Labor Day Fire

AMES, Iowa - The Ames Fire Department was called to a house fire near the intersection of Lincolnway and North Dakota on Labor Day.

The call came around 7:30 a.m. and firefighters found smoke coming out of a home. A fire apparently started in an underground garage. Fire Chief Shawn Bayouth said a cause of the fire hasn't been determined.

The fire burned up through the floor causing it to collapse.

Firefighters did not find anyone at home and there were no injuries.
