Motorcyclist Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Southeast Side Crash

DES MOINES, Iowa — Emergency crews responded to a serious motorcycle accident on the city’s southeast side Monday afternoon.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Indianola Avenue and East Porter Avenue. Police say a motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

The driver of a car southbound on Indianola Avenue told police they didn’t see the motorcyclist when they tried turning left on to E. Porter. The motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Indianola Avenue and struck the rear passenger side of the car.

A portion of the road is blocked off while officer investigate the crash and the scene is cleared.

Police haven’t released the names of those involved in the accident.
