DES MOINES, Iowa -- The 12th Annual World Food & Music Festival be held on the Court Avenue Bridge in Downtown Des Moines on Friday through Sunday.

The festival will contain food vendors representing more than 20 countries and culinary regions. Organizer of the festival, say this is the perfect event for a family on a budget. Each food stand offers a sampling item for $1 and all the food there will be $5 or under.

This year’s event includes the return of a popular cooking competition.

“This year we are really excited to be bringing back the Nationwide Cooking Challenge,” said Tiffany Tauscheck with the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “On Saturday, there will be four teams of local participants. They’ll be racing to the Downtown Farmers Market purchasing different fresh foods from the market and coming back to World Food and Music Festival and preparing meals.”

The event will also feature live entertainment headlined by the Baby Bee on Friday evening and Koa on Saturday evening.

There will be cooking demonstrations, a Chocolate Adventure Tent, and a firework display on Saturday evening.

Parking will be a little tight, especially on Saturday. Organizers recommend riding your bike to the event as there will be a free bike valet.
