Take a Walk Through ‘Color and Light’ Inside the Luminarium at Cowles Commons

DES MOINES, Iowa - It's a work of art from some people who describe themselves as the "architects of air."

The Luminarium - a masterpiece by artists from the United Kingdom - finds its way to Des Moines September 22-25. The inflatable, walk-in structure is half the size of a football field, and gives those walking through an experience of various colors and light from the outside.

"Architects of Air have brought their Luminarium all across the globe," said Eric Olmscheid with Des Moines Performing Arts. "Based in the United Kingdom, they have been in places like Switzerland and Italy, and many places in the United States as well. And having had the experience to go through the Luminarium before, I felt like this was the perfect thing to bring to Cowles Commons to activate the community, to have a centerpiece kind of right here in the middle of the city."

You can purchase tickets in advance for Thursday and Friday here, or while you wait in line for only $5. The Luminarium will be open Thursday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
