The flooding in Iowa isn’t just a threat to homes and businesses, there’s also some environmental concerns.

The Iowa DNR has put out a warning about some of those risks.

They warn that Iowans with private drinking wells will need to use caution with the water. The excessive rain can cause wastewater treatment facilities to overflow.

Flood waters can also carry debris and bacteria, and it is recommended to stay away from flood water as much as possible.
