DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines School District says one of its teachers is the victim of hackers.
An offensive message was sent out from the teacher’s Facebook account. Spokesperson Amanda Lewis says the district is commenting on the issue in an effort “to stave off any uninformed action against the teacher.”
The message was sent to a North Carolina woman the teacher has never met and included racial slurs. The post also criticized Hillary Clinton.
Facebook has confirmed to the school district that the account was hacked but did not give them information about who might be responsible or where the hack came from.
The teacher is planning to file a police report in the case.
The district is also not releasing the teacher’s name because of safety concerns.
