ADEL, Iowa — The Hillcrest Country Club in Adel had some uninvited guests Thursday morning trying to enjoy a few holes of golf before the season ends.
Workers had to partake in an impromptu cattle drive after cows from a nearby farm escaped around 8:15 a.m. The 15-member bovine crew decided the golf course looked like a great place to spend a frosty, and foggy, morning.
Club manager Chris Garton and his friend Ryan Case were able keep the cows off of the greens and tees, by herding them with a golf cart and a truck. Minimal damage was done the course.
The cows were directed back to the road, where their owner took over the herding duties.
