AUSTIN, Texas – Cyclone fans didn’t have to suffer through another fourth quarter loss on Saturday.
This week the letdown came in the third quarter when Texas scored on touchdown plays of 75, 37, and 18 yards, and ultimately won, 27-6.
In some ways, Iowa State and Texas were trending in opposite directions. The Cyclones slowly getting better with Charlie Strong steering Longhorns to three-straight losses.
The Cyclones had a good start after two first half drives stalled a pair of Cole Netten field goals had Iowa State up 6-0.
The Longhorns were nearly a casualty of their own mistakes committing 100 yards worth of penalties. But there was still a clear gap between Texas and Iowa State. Play after play the Cyclones wore down as Texas stretched its lead to a 27-6 win.
The Cyclones head into a bye week then welcome Kansas State to Jack Trice on Oct. 22.
