Police Use ‘Pit Maneuver’ to End Early Morning Chase

DES MOINES, Iowa – One person was taken into custody early Wednesday morning following a police chase.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek says the chase started at E 11th and Walker around 4:30 a.m. The driver, 21-year-old Jesse DeJonge had active warrants out for his arrest and fled from police.

Officers used a pit maneuver to disable the vehicle and were able to stop the chase at SE 18th and East MLK.

DeJonge was taken into custody and faces charges of eluding domestic abuse/impeding flow of air or blood, domestic abuse display or use of a weapon,  and obstruction of emergency communications. He is being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $6,000.
