DES MOINES, Iowa  —  The Urbandale and Des Moines Police Departments were each given a game used memento to the sacrifice of their officers today.

Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard visited each department this afternoon and presented them with a helmet worn by the Cyclones last Thursday.  In their nationally televised game against the Oklahoma Sooners the Cyclones took the field with a special sticker featuring a blue line and each departments logo.

At the Des Moines Police Station this afternoon Pollard told officers he hopes the helmet reminds officers of how much the community appreciates their sacrifice and also a reminder to officers of the importance of the job they do.  Pollard also presented a football signed by Iowa State head football coach Matt Campbell.
