The Container Store Opens in West Des Moines

The Container Store

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – If you’re trying to get your home organized, there’s a new store in West Des Moines just for you.

“People always ask, it’s like, ‘So you sell empty containers?’ And we do, and it’s so amazing what we do,” said Greg Montoya, new store trainer for The Container Store. “You know, we talk about those people, it’s like they’re space-starved, and they’re time-starved. When you’re organized, it’s easier to find something. So, we have 11,000 different products to pretty much organize any area of your home.”

The Container Store opened Saturday along Mills Civic Parkway, connected to REI. You’ll find just about anything you need to get organized, including boxes, hangers, gift-wrapping stations, and even customized closets. Employees with the Dallas, Texas-based company can help you completely design your own closet – some models costing upwards of $20,000. Store representatives say thousands of people have poured in since it opened its doors Saturday. The store also wanted to get off on the right foot with the Metro – by giving back.

“We love to partner with the local communities, and one of the great things we do, is we partner with a non-profit,” Montoya said. “The non-profit that we partnered with in Des Moines is Variety, the Children’s Charity – so 10% of yesterday’s sales, Saturday, and Sunday, today, 10% of those sales will go to Variety.”

The Container Store plans to write a check to Variety this week. This is the 86th store to open under the chain.
