Driver Killed, Child in Serious Condition Following Downtown Traffic Crash

DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police say one person has died and a child remains in critical condition following a morning traffic accident in downtown Des Moines.

Police say the crash happened around 10:35 a.m. Witnesses told them a Honda Accord traveling westbound on W. MLK Parkway at a high rate of speed struck two vehicles in a six-block stretch and at SW 2nd and W. MLK Parkway hit a large truck, spinning it around. The Honda then left the roadway and crashed into a van in the parking lot behind the High Life Lounge.

Sgt. Paul Parizek says the adult driver of the Honda, 46-year-old Soe Reh, of Des Moines, has died as a result of the crash. A child passenger who was in the same vehicle remains in critical condition at the hospital.
