DES MOINES, Iowa — What started as a domestic disturbance call Monday morning ended with a murder arrest on Monday afternoon.
Thirty-one-year-old Nickolas Pettinger was booked on a charge of First Degree Murder in the Polk County Jail. He was taken into custody earlier Monday morning after allegedly running from Polk County Sheriff’s deputies.
Just after 7:00 a.m. deputies were called to a home on E. Aurora Avenue on a domestic dispute. When they arrived they were allegedly met by Pettinger, who took off of foot from the scene. He was taken into custody a few blocks away.
Inside the home authorities found a woman in need of medical attention. EMTs were called to the scene but she was pronounced dead at the home. Her name is not being released pending notification of her family.
