DES MOINES, Iowa  —  A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for central and northern Iowa until noon. It will feel like 30-35° below zero, with closer to -40° along the Iowa/Minnesota border.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for southern Iowa for the same time frame. It will feel 25-30° below zero.

It won’t feel much warmer in the afternoon. Although the sun will be out and winds will be light, it will still feel below zero for the day.

We do have a quick warm up to look forward to. Southerly winds kick in tonight and by Monday, temperatures will reach the upper 20s in the afternoon. Tuesday will be even warmer in the upper 30s. There is a shot at a few flurries on Wednesday and more clouds, but overall the weather looks to be quiet this week with temperature closer to average in the 30s.
