Crews Fight Fire After Train Derails in Palo Alto County

PALO ALTO COUNTY, Iowa  --  Crews in northwest Iowa worked to put out a fire after a train derailed in Palo Alto County on Friday morning.

The incident took place around 1 a.m., a mile southeast of Graettinger. The County Emergency Management Director says no one was hurt.

At least 27 cars derailed, including the burning tank cars believed to have been carrying ethanol.

Nearby residents were asked to evacuate the area.
