DES MOINES, Iowa -- School is out and it's starting to warm up, which means it's time to head to the pool.

Des Moines pools officially opened Wednesday.

"Teachout was our most popular pool last summer. We had 113,000 people come through all five of our pools last summer," Jen Fletcher with Des Moines Parks and Rec said.

Fletcher said they need more help at all pools this summer and some wading pools are actually closed on certain days or weeks due to a shortage.

"We are always looking for more life guards. We are fortunate enough that we have enough to open up and stay open throughout the schedule we have posted, but if you are a life guard or are wanting to learn give us a shout," Fletcher said.
