I’m a graduate of Buena Vista University but grew up in northeast Iowa and spent my summers in northern Minnesota. I love spending time outdoors and playing for the Des Moines Women’s Rugby Club.

    DES MOINES, Iowa — Police say over the weekend the 15th homicide of 2017 happened in a church parking lot in Beaverdale. The victim, 19-year-old Ruot Gach of Carroll, was found deceased after officers were called to the Zion Lutheran Church at 4300 Beaver Avenue around 2:30 Sunday morning on a report of a shooting.   • Scott Greene Pleads Guilty to Police Officers’ Murders, is Sentenced to Life in Prison

    DES MOINES, Iowa – The man charged with the murders of two metro police officers has changed his plea to guilty. During a hearing Friday morning Scott Greene pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree murder. He also asked to be sentenced during the same hearing. The mandatory sentence for murder is life in prison without the possibility of parole, and Greene was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.   • Zearing Man Arrested in Nevada Kum & Go Robbery

    NEVADA, Iowa – An arrest has been made in the robbery of a Nevada convenience store. Police say the Kum and Go at 731 Lincoln Highway was robbed on May 14th around 2:00 a.m. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash, before getting away.     DES MOINES, Iowa – Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a woman reported missing. Fifty-six-year-old Lisa Diehm was last seen on May 10th in Johnston.     PERRY, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Public Safety is holding a news conference Thursday to release more information in the death of 16-year-old Sabrina Ray.     Storms made their mark across Iowa Wednesday with damaging winds. The severe weather produced winds of up to 70 miles per hour and dropped hail in many areas.   • Waukee Toddler Reported Missing Found Safe with his Father

    WAUKEE, Iowa – Officials say the search for a missing toddler Wednesday ended on a good note after the child was found safe. Waukee police say the child was reported missing from 560 SE Westgate Drive by the mother a little after 11:00 a.m. Officials say the mom did not realize the two-year-old was with his father. Police say it was a miscommunication between the parents and the mother’s cell phone was dead.

  • State Patrol: Driver Ticketed After Going 144 MPH on I-80

    The Iowa State Patrol is warning drivers not to take advantage of a dark open road after clocking a vehicle going 144 miles per hour earlier this month. A trooper caught the vehicle, an Audi A6, speeding excessively on I-80 in far eastern Iowa. It happened around 3:00 one morning during the first week of May.
