I'm a graduate of Buena Vista University but grew up in northeast Iowa and spent my summers in northern Minnesota. I love spending time outdoors and playing for the Des Moines Women's Rugby Club.

    Public Meeting Over Story County Road Project

    AMES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation will discuss a big Story County road project later this month. The plan is to replace the bridge over the Skunk River just south of Highway 30 and the bridge at County Road E-57. Crews will also widen over a mile of I-35 to six lanes in the area.     Fire at Metals Business in Southeast Des Moines

    DES MOINES, Iowa — Firefighters were called to put out a fire at a metal company on Des Moines’ southeast side Monday night. Officials say the call came in around 7:30 p.m. about a forklift on fire inside the building at 829 SE 21st. The building houses ABC Metal. The insulation in the building provided a challenge for firefighters, but they were able to put the fire out in about two hours.
