I’m a graduate of Buena Vista University but grew up in northeast Iowa and spent my summers in northern Minnesota. I love spending time outdoors and playing for the Des Moines Women’s Rugby Club.

    MASON CITY, Iowa – The names of five people killed in a fiery Mason City crash early Monday morning have been released. The Mason City Police Department says 20-year-old Zachary Hartley was driving the 2007 Jeep Liberty when it crashed. His passengers were 17-year-old Donte Foster, 18-year-old Roderick Lewis, 14-year-old Sydney Alcorn, and 19-year-old Alex Wiebke. All five perished in the crash.     WAUKEE, Iowa – Students in the Waukee Community School District will get to start their summer break earlier than planned this year.   • Woman Expected to Survive After South Side Shooting

    DES MOINES, Iowa – One woman was injured in a shooting late Monday night on Des Moines’ south side. Police say the shooting happened at 305 E. Watrous at 11:45 p.m. The woman then went to 29 E. McKinley, where she called for medical help. The shooting victim is in stable condition and her injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police have not released any information about a possible suspect in the shooting.

    DES MOINES, Iowa – Two people were injured Monday morning after a car rear-ended a DART bus in downtown Des Moines. It happened around 7:20 a.m. at East 2nd and Walnut.
