I’m a graduate of Buena Vista University but grew up in northeast Iowa and spent my summers in northern Minnesota. I love spending time outdoors and playing for the Des Moines Women’s Rugby Club.

    Des Moines Man Found in Utah Accused of Missing Woman’s Murder

    DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man is being charged with the murder of a woman reported missing last week. Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department says 22-year-old Kyle Alexander Jepson, who is in custody in Utah, will be charged with first degree murder, first degree robbery, and first degree burglary when he is extradited back to Iowa.     Woman Injured in West Des Moines Shooting

    WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Police are investigating after a woman was injured in a shooting early Friday morning. Police were called to the 300 block of 18th response on a report of a shooting around 5:00 a.m. An adult woman was injured and transported to a hospital, but officials say the injuries are not-life threatening. More information on the incident is expected to be released by police later but they say there is no outstanding danger to the public.

    Prole Man Killed in Crash

    WARREN COUNTY, Iowa – A traffic accident claimed the life of one person Thursday night in Prole. It happened just after 8:00 p.m. on Gear Street. The Iowa State Patrol says 30-year-old Tyler Winkleman was driving east, without his headlights on, when he lost control. The car went off the road and slammed into a tree, shearing it off at the trunk Winkleman was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the crash continues.

    DES MOINES, Iowa – Police have discovered a body in the home of a Des Moines woman reported missing earlier this month and say the case appears to be a homicide.     Slick Roads Causing Accidents, Traffic Snarls

    POLK COUNTY, Iowa – Several accidents caused by slippery roads are causing major traffic problems across Iowa Tuesday morning. Accidents have been reported from the metro area up through northern Iowa as freezing rain came down, making driving conditions dangerous.     Plea Deal Reached in Pleasant Hill Daycare Abuse Case

    DES MOINES, Iowa – A Pleasant Hill mother and daughter accused of abusing a child in an in-home daycare have agreed to plea deals. In Polk County Court Monday, 49-year-old Cindy Holt pleaded guilty to child endangerment causing bodily injury, a Class D felony.
