I'm a graduate of Buena Vista University but grew up in northeast Iowa and spent my summers in northern Minnesota. I love spending time outdoors and playing for the Des Moines Women's Rugby Club.

    MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — The Marshall County Attorney has determined the deadly shooting of a Marshalltown man by police officers back in December was justified and won’t be filing criminal charges against them.     One Person Killed in Burlington Officer-Involved Shooting

    BURLINGTON, Iowa — The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting in eastern Iowa.     DES MOINES, Iowa — Dozens of Bridgestone employees are about to be laid off, The company announced Monday it would voluntarily lay off 69 employees at its Des Moines plant. A company spokesperson tells us the layoffs are the result of a decline in demand for agriculture tires, across the entire industry.     Citizen Helps Police Identify Robbery Suspect

      OTTUMWA, Iowa — A suspect in an Ottumwa gas station robbery has been arrested. Ottumwa police say 25-year-old Joshua Ware was taken into custody Monday on outstanding warrants for 2nd degree robbery and lottery fraud. Police say Ware robbed the Albia Road BP gas station on December 22nd. A citizen recognized Ware from a previously published photo of the suspect while at the Quincy Place Mall. The citizen contacted police and Ware was arrested at the mall.

      URBANDALE, Iowa — Urbandale firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday night. They were called to 7711 Dellwood Drive around 5:45 p.m. The people in the home noticed the CO2 detector upstairs had gone off and then saw smoke coming from the laundry chute.
