I’m a graduate of Buena Vista University but grew up in northeast Iowa and spent my summers in northern Minnesota. I love spending time outdoors and playing for the Des Moines Women’s Rugby Club.

  • Hinterland Music Festival Announces 2018 Headliners

    ST. CHARLES, Iowa – The initial lineup for summer music festival Hinterland has been announced. Headliners are GRAMMY-nominated country/bluegrass/rock artist Sturgill Simpson and the indie rock group Band of Horses.   • I-80 Westbound Open Again After Truck Hauling Chemicals Caught Fire

    Westbound I-80 has re-opened between the east mixmaster and Merle Hay Road after a fire involving a semi carrying chemicals shut down the interstate for a few hours. The incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-80.   • Suspect Arrested After Chase Involving Stolen Vehicle Ends in Wreck

    DES MOINES, Iowa – An early morning chase involving a stolen vehicle landed a Des Moines man behind bars. Des Moines police say the chase began at 19th Street and MLK Parkway when officers spotted a stolen vehicle and tried to stop it. The driver took off but then crashed the vehicle at 19th and Forrest.   • America Gets a Raise: Wage Growth Fastest Since 2009

    America finally got a raise. The U.S. economy added 200,000 jobs in January, and wages grew at the fastest pace in eight years. The unemployment rate stayed at 4.1%, the lowest since 2000, the Labor Department said Friday. Wages were up 2.9% compared with a year earlier, the best pace since June 2009.   • Fugitive Sex Offender Back in Polk County Jail

    DES MOINES, Iowa — A wanted sex offender is back behind bars after more than five weeks hiding from authorities. Thirty-nine-year-old Eric Wayne McCuller was booked into the Polk County Jail Wednesday night. McCuller’s sentence was discharged on November 8, 2017. He was required to be under supervision for the rest of his life while living in the community, but he ran off on December 22nd. McCuller was convicted in 2012 for third degree sexual abuse.     DES MOINES, Iowa – A former Des Moines police officer accused of planting evidence in a drug case will rely on a judge’s verdict in his trial instead of a jury’s. Court documents filed earlier this week show 31-year-old Tyson Teut has waived his right to a jury trial. Teut was charged in August of 2017 with felonious misconduct in office and perjury.
