    DES MOINES, Iowa – Firefighters say a maintenance worker is lucky to be alive after he was found hanging from a downtown roof.     Former Puppy Mill Dog Bought at MO Auction Missing

    URBANDALE, Iowa – A former puppy mill dog recently bought at auction has gone missing. Local animal rescue groups returned from a Missouri auction last weekend with 56 dogs. Many of them had lived at Julie’s Jewels, a puppy mill that was recently shut down. The missing Rottweiler was rescued by Hope Animal Rescue in Grimes, placed in a foster home but went missing in the area of 142nd and Douglas. Searchers say there have been sightings in the area […]

    City allows ‘Cops’ to Shoot in Des Moines

    DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police will soon be busting “bad boys” on national television. The city council unanimously approved a contract with producers of the TV show “Cops” Monday that will allow cameras to follow Des Moines police while on duty. The show has filmed in Des Moines three times before. The Des Moines Police Department has final editorial approval on the episode before it airs.

    Teen Drives Minivan through Gas Station Front Door

    CLIVE, Iowa – Clive police responded to an incident at the Kum & Go store on Tuesday afternoon. Officers say a minivan was driven by a 15-year-old boy through the front door at the store on 86th and Harbach Blvd shortly before 12 p.m. The teen, who doesn’t have a permit or license, asked his mother who was pumping gas if he could pull the van from the pumps to the front of the store.  He hit the gas instead […]

    Webster City Man Charged with Father’s Murder

    WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – A Webster City man has been charged with the murder of his father. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said Steven Graesch was found dead by police at 1932 Des Moines Street in Webster City at about 2 a.m. Monday. Authorities believe the 61-year-old had an altercation with his son, 27-year-old Corbin Graesch, in the early morning hours of Saturday. Steven died as a result of that altercation.     Bisignano Extends Lead To 18 Votes

    Tuesday’s Democratic primary for the Iowa Senate District 17 was close. At the end of the day’s counting just 13 votes separated Tony Bisignano and Nathan Blake. But the figure has increased slightly. The Polk County Elections Office met Thursday to count any additional ballots from the race.
