    COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – A Pottawattamie County man suffered a severe injury to his hand during Independence Day celebrations Friday. The Pottawattamie County Sheriff`s Office says the incident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the 13-thousand block of 220th Street in rural Council Bluffs.     Security Camera Captures Newton Tornado

    NEWTON, Iowa – A security camera in Newton caught the moment a possible tornado formed as it traveled near Newton. Marvin Woods sent in the footage to Channel 13 which was shot south of Interste-80 looking north. At least 11 tornadoes were reported to have touched down across the state including the cities of Jewell, Reinbeck, Traer, and Winterset. The National Weather Service will be going to Grundy, Tama and Jasper counties to do storm surveys Monday.

    DES MOINES, Iowa – The 911 call from a home invasion resulting in an elderly man’s death in Des Moines Wednesday has been released.     JOHNSTON, Iowa – The latest crest forecast from the Army Corps of Engineers shows Saylorville Lake below danger zones. The lake is forecast to crest on Sunday night at 881 feet above sea level. That gives officials three feet before they would have to make use of the crest gates. The spillway would be breached at 890 feet.     Trucker Records Trooper, Claims he was Speeding and using his Phone

    ILLINOIS – A truck driver traveling through Illinois last week claims he caught a trooper speeding and talking on his cell phone. The driver, Brian Miner, honked his horn at the trooper as he passed on the wet road. The trooper then pulled the truck over and threatened to give the driver a ticket for unlawful use of a horn.     Man Trapped on Side of Hoover Building ‘Lucky to be Alive’

    DES MOINES, Iowa – Firefighters say a maintenance worker is lucky to be alive after he was found hanging from a downtown roof. Crews were called shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday on a report of a man dangling from the Hoover State Office Building.     Former Puppy Mill Dog Bought at MO Auction Missing

    URBANDALE, Iowa – A former puppy mill dog recently bought at auction has gone missing. Local animal rescue groups returned from a Missouri auction last weekend with 56 dogs. Many of them had lived at Julie’s Jewels, a puppy mill that was recently shut down. The missing Rottweiler was rescued by Hope Animal Rescue in Grimes, placed in a foster home but went missing in the area of 142nd and Douglas. Searchers say there have been sightings in the area […]

    City allows ‘Cops’ to Shoot in Des Moines

    DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police will soon be busting “bad boys” on national television. The city council unanimously approved a contract with producers of the TV show “Cops” Monday that will allow cameras to follow Des Moines police while on duty. The show has filmed in Des Moines three times before. The Des Moines Police Department has final editorial approval on the episode before it airs.
