RARE BIRTH: Twin Sisters Born Holding Hands

The birth of Ohio twins is gaining international attention. Jenna and Jillian were born Friday to Sarah and Bill Thistlethwaite, of Orville, at Akron General Medical Center. They are considered ‘mono mono’ twins — where the babies shared an amniotic sack. Their birth was rare enough in itself; mono mono twins happen in about 1 in 10,000 twin pregnancies. NEBRASKA NICE: Iowa Nice Has A Rival

No More Mr. Nice Guy. Our neighboring state to the west announced Wednesday a “Nebraska Nice” tourism brand. “We set out to find a message that would resonate with Nebraskans and will very quickly communicate Nebraska’s strengths to potential visitors,’’ Nebraska Tourism Commission Director Kathy McKillip told the Omaha World-Herald. But our state already has Iowa Nice typified by ESPN contributor Scott Siepker. And he wasn’t happy with the competition. “This means war,” the Iowa Nice Guy wrote on Twitter. […]

  • ‘GAYSTAPO’ COMMENTS: Newton Paper Fires Editor

A central Iowa newspaper is looking for a new editor after a blog post caused a public uproar. Newton Daily News suspended its editor Bob Eschliman last week after he wrote controversial comments on a personal blog. “I’d like to talk a little bit about deceivers among us, most notably the LGBTQXYZ crowd and the Gaystapo effort to reword the Bible to make their sinful nature ‘right with God,’” Eschliman wrote. Several Newton residents said Eschliman went too far expressing his First […]

NATIONAL ATTENTION: Ernst Ad Takes Aim At Obamacare

After gaining national notoriety after her first ad, US Senate hopeful Joni Ernst is once again picking up widespread attention for her latest campaign effort. If castrating pigs wasn’t enough to catch the electorates’ attention, then a leather-clad Ernst shooting a gun and promising to “set (her) sights on Obamacare” should do the trick. Ernst, who has the support of Sarah Palin and Sen. Marko Rubio, is introduced as a “mom, farm girl and a lieutenant colonel who carries more […]
