Good morning everyone. As you probably already noticed this morning, Pat is gone so it’s just me today. I bet a lot of you are getting ready for Thanksgiving, so I would love to hear about your favorite dish and how you cook your turkey, which is something I am debating this year. We’ll get to those things in a moment.
Gas Prices back up
Even though $1.63 is still very nice.. prices did go up overnight from $1.51 a gallon. We were sooo close to getting below $1.50 which a gas station manager told me a month ago we’d get to. I didn’t believe him but he was right. I don’t remember the last time it cost me just $20 to fill up my car.
Sign of the times
GM says it will no longer pay Tiger Woods to be in its ads for Buick. The company said it was looking for ways to save money and now it can keep the 7 million a year it was paying Woods to appear in its commercials. Now I no longer have to laugh every time I see Tiger driving in the commericals. Like Tiger really drives a LeSabre.
We already knew the Drake women’s basketball players were not only good athletes but also smart, but now we know one of them is INSANELY smart! Lindsay Whorton is one of just 32 recipients of this year’s prestigious award. Here’s the article in the Des Moines Register. She’s not only smart, she’s also modest and clearly wants to use her talents to help others.
So, I am trying to come up with the best way to make my turkey this year. I keep hearing about brining and how it makes your turkey less dry. Have any of you ever tried this method? And, any good side dish recipes to pass along? Please share them.
