Good Morning! I will be brief this morning…Ha ha…

The News
Neiderbach
Case goes to the jury. There are a lot of questions in this case and of course no matter the verdict, the loser is a now two year-old boy. I thought the Prosecutors did a good job with rebuttal witnesses and they made a good point.
If this kid had a rare bone disease that caused unexplained breaks, why hasn’t he had any broken bones since being out of the care of his Father?
Donations
Our Facebook page got blasted with requests for help for a dog that got hit and had to have his leg amputated. Some really nice person wanted to help the dog but couldn’t pay the bills. People from all over have helped.
I don’t think the following is going to make me real popular and I expect some emails from animal lovers who say I don’t get it…but here goes:
First and foremost let me say I am an animal lover. We have a cat, I love dogs…Pets can be an important component of people’s lives.
That said, I have a question to pose: Why is it that we have such a problem raising taxes by ten cents per thousand dollars of our home value to pay for Firefighters or a New School, but a dog you never met and you never will meet has Vet bills that are unpaid and you’ll fork over $100? I am not criticizing…I really am asking. We’ll help a school in Afghanistan that we will never see but we won’t volunteer at the school down the street. Why do you think that is?
Rapture
A friend told me there are people offering to take care of “true believer’s” pets for $150 after they get sent to Heaven Saturday. I love this country. If that’s not an ad for Capitalism I don’t know what is.
Themes
Two people in Pella are doing Mario Bros themed wedding. Not only are the Bride and Groom dressing up, they’re asking everyone to dress up too. Even if you are not willing to dress up they’re asking you to dress in white cause there are clouds in the game.
So we asked, if your wedding had a theme, what would it be?
I hope you all have a good day!

I've seen (on the web) tons of weddings in Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, etc themes. The closest I got was Han Solo and Princess Leia action figures on one of our wedding cakes. Almost 10 years later and The Force is still with us.

I've asked the same question about people randomly donating money before, also. I'm glad the dog is doing well but in my life it's poorly timed. My father in law's dog got hit about a week ago and we were in a similar situation of not being able to afford to try treatment after treatment in hopes of being able to “fix” the damage. It might have been possible…but my father in law is still recovering from a heart attack 6 weeks ago and a stroke not long after that. So, while I appreciate what's being done for this dog…I'm sad that a stray got saved while my father in law's dog who was helping him recover had to be put down. I also realize that it's because of the circumstances that I feel this way…I don't think I normally would.

I know we didn't see all of the evidence but I just think that Neiderbach will be found guilty. My heart breaks for that little boy and I'm so happy to hear he's in a safe home now.

The end of the world had best not be on the 21st…I supposed to take my daughter to see Taylor Swift on the 29th!!!

There isn't anything I like enough to have as a theme for a wedding!!

    Have a great day!

it is easy to think, “Well, this is a one time only required donation. They won’t keep coming back asking for more.” Maybe not, but first you help this poor dog, then you help the cat the fell down the sewer, then you help the poor deer that crashed through a window, then you help the raccoon that was trapped and shot up, then……..you have nothing left for you! I agree that it is important to help others, but it is also important to take care of ourselves as a community. I believe this same problem applies to our national government. In two news reports this week, it was noted that 1) the US government has reached their credit limit at $14 trillion; 2) The US government is threatening to cut off financial aid to Pakistan. I’m confused, if we can’t borrow any more money as a government, how can we send money to Pakistan? Just asking…..I’ll come down off my soapbox now!

We had a traditional wedding ceremony and then had Jimmy Buffet/Luau themed reception. We didn't make anyone dress to the theme, but in our receiving line we gave each person a lei to wear.

Regardless of whether the child was born with birth defects resulting in brittle bones or not, the evidence regarding Neiderbach's actions should steer the way to a verdict. If it doesn't, then a question must be raised of whether the mom committed perjury in her testimony to strike a deal.

We had a traditional wedding but a christmas theme in July. We were married in july but I always wanted a christmas wedding so we had a christmas tree with all white lights and gold and white tulle bows and the dinner tables were adorned with mini lighted christmas trees, fake snow, gold christmas balls, and candy canes!
