Local law enforcement agencies are working together Wednesday to slow people down on the roads.

The Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force is patrolling in Des Moines, working to catch speeders and remind them about the dangers of driving too fast.

Officials were stopping motorists Wednesday morning in the eastbound lanes of I-235 near the E. 14th Street exit. They plan to focus on areas where there is a high volume of traffic.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says serious accidents often involve at least one vehicle that is travelling at a high rate of speed.
